  1. I am a cyclist, paying a considerably a high amount of council tax from my monthly wages feel I need to make a comment. I have to cycle in all weather from my home in Broadwey to Chickerell every weekday to get to & from work. I use the shared cycle/pedestrian paths when possible for my own safety & so as not to hold up the very busy traffic. The hedges/foliage is often growing out half way or more over the path in some areas. It could cause a cyclist to come off their bike into the road! I have often had to dismount & try to swipe the greenery/branches/brambles out of the way with one hand to get through. I met with another cyclist a few days back that had got off his bike trying to get the overgrowth back so he could pass safely so I helped him as best I could with our bare hands & getting scratched with brambles. It really is not acceptable with the high amount we pay in council tax.

    1. Is the Slip road leading off the A338 to Hurn closed tonight from 8.0.pm to 6.0am

  2. No mention of Portland Or making things right on Portland beach road

    1. Hi M Perry, Portland Beach Road is listed above for 19 – 23 July, with the work being paid for by SSE to correct the trench reinstatement. Other than this there is no other surfacing works for Portland during July.

  3. There are warning signs at Sturminster Newton Town Bridge of roadworks but nothing on this website.
    What is the situation please?

    1. Hi Bill, just spoken to our highways officer in for the area – we’re about to repair the footway that has subsided, with work starting on 8 July and expected to last around eight weeks. We’ll be using three-way lights to ensure there is a safe working space, so there will be delays in the area due to these lights – sorry.

  4. The drivers of the lorries doing the works on the A354 are NOT keeping to the 20mph limit and are causing chipping to paintwork and windscreens. They have absolutely no regard for other road users. Please tell them that they need to behave like responsible road users and not idiots and keep to the speed limit the signs for which they put up.

    1. Hi Tessa, sorry to hear about this driver behaviour. The 20mph signs should’ve been up – but it’s always difficult to get drivers to adhere to them.

  5. Is the above information accurate?
The Goulds Hill roadworks are still ongoing and the road was still closed at 5.15pm tonight (8 Jul).
Is the road supposed to be open overnight as the signs and above info implies?

    1. Hi Chris, our road repairs finished on Friday and Wessex Water are now working in Martinstown this week – but it seems the water company haven’t put any signs out to advise drivers of its work.
Our traffic team is in touch with Wessex Water and has asked for diversion signs to be put in place. Sorry for the confusion.
Wessex Water’s work should be finished on Friday but it means there is no access from Martinstown up to the A35 Monkeys Jump Roundabout, here’s the TTRO notice for it: https://portal.roadworks.org/downloads/tm/rc-ext-ttrn-public-notice-113635569-3167952.pdf

      1. Thanks. I would suggest a big sign in Upwey at Stottingway St & Elwell St saying NO ACCESS TO DORCHESTER. It was chaos this morning.

      2. This reply from Dorset Council is inaccurate. There is access from Martinstown to the A35 at Monkey’s Jump Roundabout. It is the B3159 from Martinstown towards Upwey that is closed. They are right in saying Wessex Water have put no advice notices in suitable places for drivers and the Road Ahead Closed signs were placed very close to the roadworks requiring drivers to turn around. The position of these at the bottom of Gould’s Hill was dangerous. Despite many requests this week Wessex Water have still not attended to this in a satisfactory way.

        1. Hi D W, thank you for the clarification. I could have better worded my reply – I was answering with regards to commuters who use this route from Weymouth to Dorchester. I’ll pass your comments on to our traffic team who have been liaising with Wessex Water.

  6. This is perhaps a strange complaint: that some much-needed patching is being done but the work is not on this website page and I don’t think the Parish Council has been informed of the patching schedule.

The road gang are doing a superb job here in Bradford Abbas. We’ve been years without proper attention being paid to our crumbling, pot-holed roads and lo, and behold, the road crew turns up and is scouring out damaged road and replacing with substantial patches. I spoke to Jason and the crew to thank them for a great job. Apparently these roads will be resurfaced after 6-8 months of the patches settling down.

  7. Im a hgv driver which delivers to co op and one stop is the b3092 closed bath rd and will there be a suitable diversion for us
