Get faster WiFi and save money

Up to half of homes and businesses in Bridport and West Bay could get faster broadband and save hundreds of pounds a year at the same time.

On Wednesday 10 July staff from Dorset Council will be in Bucky Doo Square, Bridport between noon and 2pm as part of a campaign to help people get cheaper and faster home internet connections.

The team will be able to give advice on the best broadband services available at your home or business. Please bring details of your current internet provider/deal so they can calculate the possible savings.

They will be accompanied by Digital Norm, a fun character developed by the Superfast Dorset programme. His family switches to fibre broadband and saves money in the process.

To see how, watch Digital Norm’s short film or pop along on Wednesday 10 July.

More than 97 per cent of Dorset premises can now get superfast broadband. The faster, more reliable connections mean everyone can be online at the same time, quicker downloads, TV and films on demand and video calling without the annoying lag.

But the uplift in speeds isn’t automatic – you must contact your internet provider and ask to be moved over to fibre broadband.

Only around half of homes and businesses in Bridport and West Bay have made the switch, even though deals can often make it cheaper than standard broadband.
