  1. Looking forward to seeing Wick Lane, Bournemouth on the list of roadworks when the Council EVENTUALLY get round to resurfacing the only access to our Village.

  2. Are the whole of Stepleton bends going to be closed on July 29th,or just from the Child Okeford turning ?

    1. Hi H Rawles, the description I have is that the work is from Steepleton Bends to Iwerne Minster. Hope this helps.

  3. It is hugely noticeable to myself and all that live in what was east dorset that there is NO road improvements here. Please don’t refer me to that mess of a 338 Bournemouth “improvement”. We are all bitterly know the time cost of that very very slow project to our personal inconvenience. Now that Dorchester has total control of all our local taxation, I also fully understand and expect to see solid gold letter box’s on all properties west of blandford within the next 4 years

    1. Hi Nigel,

I’m sorry you feel that way. Although there may be nothing physical happening on the ground at the moment, transport planners and engineers from Dorset Council are currently working with colleagues in the new BCP Council on a bid for funding from the Transforming Cities Fund.

This bid gives us the opportunity to access a significant funding stream from Government that would support new sustainable transport schemes in Bournemouth, Poole, Christchurch and east Dorset. It would provide improved transport corridors for buses, cycling and walking between Ferndown, Wimborne and the BCP conurbation.

We are also in discussions with developers to build new link roads either side of the existing signalised junction at Parley Cross. These new links will help reduce congestion at the busy Parley Cross junction and improve the B3073 east/west corridor through Parley and the north/south links between Poole and Ferndown.

Following the recent completion of the Ham Lane cycleway we are working on more cycle links in the area including along Wimborne Road and to and from local employment sites.

I hope this gives you some reassurance that the east of Dorset continues to be present in our transport planning and in the improvement of our highways.

  4. I apologise for the poor grammar but not the intended insult.

  5. Good to see East Stour crossroads will have some improvement in August! What do you propose please?

Having watched the speeds on our village SID at this A30 site, a big proportion of vehicles on the A30 (going west) approach the junction at 35 to 50 mph despite some then turning off the A30.

  6. I do not appear to have received any response to my e.mail sent in June
regarding the condition of some roads in Ferndown especially Victoria Gardens. Was it too contencious ?

    1. Hi David, sorry you didn’t see this reply on your original comment:

Unfortunately Victoria Gardens is not currently on our programme for a road surface treatment.
I’m sorry you feel that previous complaints have not been acted on. The best thing is to report road damage using our online form: https://dorset-self.achieveservice.com/service/Report-a-pothole This will be passed on to the local community highway officer who will assess the road for any ‘actionable defects’ that need repair, and recommend it for any further action if necessary.

We understand that residents are concerned about the condition of our roads and we’re always happy to look into your concerns, sorry I don’t have more positive news for you on this occasion.

  7. Can you tell me what is to be done on the “safety works” proposed at East Stour crossroads 12-14 August please?

    1. Hi David, sorry for the oversight on the details of this – I’ve now added a link on this page to the scheme plan.
