Gillingham cycleway works continue

Next week Dorset Council will be vacuum excavating around a low voltage eletricity cable in Gillingham, before pushing it into a new trench.

Due to the size of the machine used for the vacuum excavation there will only be one lane width available for traffic.

Three-way lights will be in use from 7.30am to 3.30pm on Monday 16 and Tuesday 17 March between Church View and Wyke Street for the 180m stretch of excavation.

Unfortunately, this will cause delays to morning commuters and school traffic – please use an alternative route if possible. The cable has to be moved as it is on the alignment of the new kerbing.

Signalised pedestrian crossings will be available at the location of the temporary signals – across Wyke Street, across Le Neubourg Way north of Wyke Street and on Le Neubourg Way just north of Church View.

Despite the extremely wet weather, work is on schedule to finish in June.
