Calling Dorset Care Leavers – please help

Dorset Council is asking Care Leavers to complete a quick survey to help improve things.

The survey is easy and takes about 10 minutes. It is anonymous, so no one will know how anyone has answered.

If you are a Dorset Council Care Leaver, aged 18-25, please complete it today and you could win a voucher.

The survey will help Dorset Council improve services for young people leaving care.

The council is joining forces with Coram Voice, a leading children’s rights organisation to make these improvements. This work is being delivered through the ‘New Belongings’ programme.

Throughout the year, a model will be developed for improving support for care leavers. This will be done by involving and working with the people with the best knowledge – care leavers. This survey is part of that work.

Cllr Andrew Parry, Dorset Council Portfolio Holder for Children, Education and Early Help said: “We really want to involve Care Leavers in making improvements, after all they are the experts of their own experience.

“If you are a Dorset Council Care Leaver please help by sparing 10 minutes to complete this survey – it is important. We’re really proud to be one of only eight local authorities across England to be selected to work on the New Belongings project.

“It is vital we work closely with our care experienced young people to make sure they have the right pathways into being independent, further education and employment opportunities.”

Dorset Council will work with existing care leaver forums or new groups of young people across the county to develop action plans based on care leavers’ priorities. Our care leaver groups will be supported to review and challenge the progress of the plans.
