More libraries reopening in Dorset

Three more libraries are set to reopen their doors this August.

Plans are in place to open Shaftesbury, Verwood and Swanage on Monday 10 August.

This follows the successful reopening of nine libraries, in Blandford, Bridport, Dorchester, Ferndown, Gillingham, Sherborne, Wareham, Weymouth and Wimborne.

Customers will be able to browse the shelves and use the public computers. The computers will be available for a 45-minute session and should be pre-booked by telephoning in advance.

The libraries will be open at the following times:

  • Shaftesbury and Verwood – 9.30am to 1pm, Monday to Saturday (closed Wednesdays). To book computers, contact Shaftesbury on 01747 852256 and Verwood on 01202 822972
  • Swanage – 9.30am to 1pm, Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday (closed Tuesdays and Thursdays). Telephone 01929 423485

Opening times are being limited to mornings so teams can work safely in the afternoons to pick and pack bags for the order and collect service – an alternative service for existing customers who are unable to spend time in the library.

For those without online access, an order can be made by telephoning 01305 228400.

  1. Could you please let me know when the Corfe Mullen library is likely to open up again. It is a very well used facility and really missed by the residents of Corfe Mullen.
