Additional safety measures

Additional safety measures are being taken to ensure the health and safety of workers in these unprecedented times. We are also working closely with other highway authorities across the south west and with industry bodies to share knowledge of new ways of working.

  • single person vehicle movements both to and from site
  • maintaining current social distancing requirements at all times
  • daily toolbox talks to share the latest safe working guidance and COVID-19 updates
  • daily health screening involving temperature checks and general well-being
  • no high-risk workers on site
  • revised working practices to reduce the number of staff on site while still maintaining health and safety standards when working on the highway
  • changes to site welfare, including additional toilet facilities and hygiene provision

Please be mindful of how you speak to our workforce, they are working within the Government’s guidance for construction activity – that it should continue where it fits with both the current Public Health England requirements and in accordance with industry safety guidance

  1. I read the list of road repairs each time wondering if Elphinstone Road in Highcliffe will be mentioned. Again No.

It must be one of the most patched roads in Dorset – patches on patches. Today I noticed a number (at least 3 area) of worn patches revealing the rubble beneath – more patching of patches?

If I had time I’d walk the short length of the road and try to count all the patches – it needs a proper repair not more patching.

  2. On thursday morning around 09.30 I was driving towards Lidl on the A31 from Ashley Heath. There is a lay by where I saw a highway maintenance vehicle parked and the driver got out to meet another chap who just arrived on the scene. The driver of the first vehicle threw what was either a coffee cup or bag into the bushes at the side of the lay by as I passed by. These workmen represent the council and should not be fly tipping their rubbish onto the green belt in this manner. Someone should have a word with them about it.

    1. Hi Dee, sorry to hear this, it is not the standard we expect from our workforce. There are many vehicles that carry highway maintenance markings, if you are able to get a registration we can check our fleet log and offer words of advice to the driver if it is one of our vehicles.

  3. Will the A350 work be postponed as the A350 is being used this week as a diversion for the C13 which has been closed for works?

  4. I was hoping to see the resurfacing of the lower part of The Cliff in Bryanston on the list as this would complete the work done last year. Are you able to tell me when the work will be done please?
