Deadline fast approaching for applications to new community and voluntary sector fund

Funding deadline alert! Dorset’s cultural and community and voluntary organisations have until 29 November 2020 to submit their application to Dorset Council for revenue support.

Funding The new Organisational Revenue Support Fund opens today (29 October) and will award grants for up to three years revenue support to cultural and community organisations.

The launch of the new fund follows the council’s decision earlier this month to continue support for Dorset’s:

  • voluntary community sector organisations
  • museums
  • arts
  • heritage
  • community centres and village halls

The brand-new fund replaces all existing threeyear revenue agreements and brings with it a new application and award process.

To find details of how to apply, how much can be awarded, and which organisations meet the criteria, go to www.dorsetcouncil.gov.uk/revenuesupportfund

Cllr Jill Haynes, Dorset Council Portfolio Holder for Customer and Community Services said:

“The deadline for applications to the new fund is 29 November and we appreciate this doesn’t give organisations much time.

“We will notify everyone of the outcome of their application at the same time, but the sooner we have everyone’s applications, the sooner we can start to process them and we hope this will give you more time to plan for the coming financial year.

“It’s a brand-new process so do look carefully at the information and guidance we have made available online.

“I would also urge organisations to take up the offers of support we have put in place through Dorset Community Action, the Arts Development Company and the webinar we are hosting on 2 November.”

Help to make a strong application

The council is hosting a webinar through Microsoft Teams on Monday 2 November from 10 -11:30am to provide additional support and answer questions about the new fund.

Advice about the new fund is also available from:

Applications need to be made online and all applicants will be required to upload their supporting documents when they apply.

Next steps

Successful applicants will be granted a funding agreement for up to three years from 1 April 2021.

Unsuccessful applicants or incorporated organisations seeking a one-off grant who are not eligible will be able to apply for a small one-year grant from the new ‘organisational development & project revenue fund’ offering grants from between £1,000 and £10,000 from February 2021.
