Have your say on park home licence fees

Owners and residents of Dorset’s park home sites are being asked to give their views on a draft policy for how Dorset Council sets park home licence fees.

A new policy is needed to standardise how park home licence fees are calculated across Dorset. It will replace the policies of the county’s former district and borough councils which each determined their fees differently.

What does the draft park home licence fee policy propose?

The draft policy proposes that sites should be grouped into bands according to the number of homes on each site.

The council needs to find out how the policy might impact on site owners and residents and make sure it is fair.

The introduction of a single policy across Dorset will mean that some sites will be subject to an increased licence fee, while others will benefit from a reduced fee.

Cllr Jill Haynes, Portfolio Holder for Customer Services and Communities said:

“We need to standardise our approach to park home licence fees and are proposing a system which puts sites into different bands depending on the number of homes they have.

“This means some sites will be subject to an increased annual licence fee while others will see a reduction.

“We believe any proposed increases are modest and should not result in significant costs being passed onto residents, but that’s why we are consulting on the policy – it’s important we understand how all parties might be affected.

“If you own a site, or live in a park home, please take the time to give us your feedback.”

The consultation runs from 1 February 2021 to 21 March 2021.

    1. Thanks Sharon, I can only apologise. I would like to blame Microsoft for their default language setting always being American English, but truth is, I should have spotted this. Hopefully all corrected now.

      Best wishes

    2. Tourism has always been a very big income for many in Dorset. Including public house restaurants shops, museums, places of interest and of course the sites themselves.
They should all be made as affordable as possible especially in the current situation and possibly for many years to come.

  1. If I am not mistaken, the ground rent seems to be going up, which I totally disagree with. Most people on Park Home Sites are people in a pension and if the site manager passes it on to us it will cause hardship.
