Customer service point to re-open in Bridport

Customers in an and around Bridport will be able to gain information and advice about Dorset Council services in person at Mountfield from Wednesday, 21 July.

Since March 2020, due to COVID-19, many more people have been accessing services online or by phone, but know some residents like to see someone face-to-face.

The council is now working with Bridport Town Council to re-open at Mountfield on Rax Lane.

Customer services will be able to assist with council enquiries or urgent needs that cannot be supported over the phone or online. The opening times are:

  • Wednesday: 9am-12:30pm and 1:30pm-5pm
  • Thursday: 9am-12:30pm and 1:30pm-5pm
  • Friday: 9am-12:30pm and 1:30pm-4:30pm

The continued safety of customers and employees is paramount.  Perspex safety screens will remain in place and staff will be strongly encouraged to continue wearing face coverings, as will customers visiting indoor premises. Cleaning regimes will also remain in place. Read more about the safety measures that are remaining in place from 19 July.

Cllr Jill Haynes, Dorset Council’s Portfolio Holder for Customer and Community Services, said:

“Providing support for customers who cannot access our services digitally, or who need face-to-face assistance is important as we come out of COVID-19 restrictions, and we’re pleased to be able to re-open a customer service point in Bridport.”

“I’d like to thank local residents and businesses for their understanding throughout the pandemic.”

Plans are being drawn up to eventually move the customer service point to Bridport Library, but in the meantime Mountfield will be where the customer service advisor is based. The council will update residents and partners as this work progresses.
