Weymouth’s Pavilion car park is being used for two events this September, with drivers asked to use the town’s other central car parks to avoid delays.
From around 6pm on Wednesday 8 September the Pavilion Car Park will close while organisers prepare the area for the Dorset Seafood Festival, and the car park will remain closed during the event and through until Monday 13 and Tuesday 14 while the festival site is dismantled.
From Wednesday 15 September the Pavilion Car Park will partially reopen. At this point, a substantial area of the car park will be used for IRONMAN 70.3 Weymouth, and the Lodmoor Car Park will close to members of the public – with it being used for the athletes’ transition area as usual.
Cllr Ray Bryan, Portfolio Holder for Highways, Travel and Environment, said: “These two major events continue to raise the profile of Weymouth and the surrounding area, and we’re pleased to see their safe return.
“Although these car parks are popular with visitors, we have plenty of alternative spaces available for people to still have access to the town and enjoy these Autumn additions to the local attractions.”
To ensure organisers have unhindered access to the car parks for their events, vehicles parked in these car parks during the closures will be towed away.
- Drivers should use the Park and Ride, Swannery or Melcombe Regis Car Parks during these events
- Zone F resident permit holders affected by the car park or road closures can use North Quay Car Park during this time
- Coaches will be able to use the Park & Ride during the IRONMAN event
Drivers will be able to use the Pavilion Car Park and Lodmoor Car Park as usual from Monday 20 September.

Are disabled allowed access to the pier for fishing? There are quite a few of us with disabilities and this is our only form of recreation.
Hi Debbie, access to the pier remains open but the Pavilion Car Park is closed for the Seafood Festival this weekend and then only partially open while the IRONMAN event is set up and takes place.
