Dorset Highways maintenance gangs are out across the county continuing to repair road damage.
To allow this work to take place safely, the area of the road being worked on will be closed. Daytime road closures are 9am to 4pm and night work is usually from 8pm to 6am.
We will do our best to keep you updated if our schedule of work changes. In January we will be repairing sections along the following roads:
B3078 Cranborne Road – 6 to 13 January

This is not an exhaustive list of all repairs. Dorset Highways’ annual road maintenance programme, includes patching, micro-surfacing, surface dressing, in-situ recycling, road preservation and resurfacing treatments.
All planned road works can be found online.
Using a variety of surface treatments ensures that more of Dorset Council’s roads get repaired with the budget available, compared to using resurfacing alone.

Please use our online form to report highway-related issues/damage. This goes directly to the local community highways officer for assessment.

I would like to bring to the attention of DC the terrible state of residential roads in particular Broadlands road in Weymouth and the adjoining road; Court road. These take a considerable amount of traffic during the school run times which is probably why they are in a poor state but no road surface work has been undertaken on either of these road in decades apart from the odd 10cm deep pot hole fill. Is there a plan? I doubt it.
Hi Graham, the best thing is to report road damage using our online form: https://www.dorsetcouncil.gov.uk/roads-highways-maintenance/report-a-problem-on-the-road-or-pavement.aspx This will be passed on to the local community highway officer who will assess it for repair. This information also informs our ongoing forward plan of programmed surfacing, surface dressing and patching works.
Perhaps it is time the surface of the B3390 heading south between Moreton Station and Ways at Crossways is given a complete resurfacing. The present surface is poor for all vehicles but dangerous for cyclists and motorcyclists. This “B” road acts as an “A” road so should have a good surface.
Hi Peter, this section of road is in our forward surfacing programme, we’re awaiting confirmation of future budgets before confirming a date for construction.
DCC Highways have been promising action on the awful state of Lynmoor Road, Weymouth. DT4 7TW, since 2012. As we approach 2022 will anything be done?
Amazing that it will be 10 years and still no action, how pathetic!
Hi Roger, Lynmoor Road is on the works programme to be surface dressed this spring/summer.
I reported to Highways Dept many months ago, that where the road between Holwell and Pulham had been resurfaced, the drop from the new road surface to the verges was so severe in places that vehicles being forced to give way to larger vehicles risked serious damage to suspensions and underbody works. Still nothing has been done, yet there is clear evidence of vehicular contact with the edges of the road surface. It is only a matter of time for an accident to occur especially at night when these drops are not evident.
