Dorset Road Fix – March 2022

Dorset Highways maintenance gangs are out across the county continuing to repair road damage.

21 March to 31 March – two-way temporary lights between Gupples Lane and Green Lane for essential drainage repairs before resurfacing works

In April we will be completing bridge repairs and road surfacing under one road closure:

B3091 closed from Gupples Lane to Manston Gate Cottage – 1 April to 29 April

Although the resurfacing will be carried out with sections of road closed, there will be no through access along the B3091 due to the bridge works.

  • 1 April to 13 April – resurfacing between Gupples Lane and Green Lane
  • 4 April to 29 April – Keybrook Bridge repairs
  • 14 April to 21 April – resurfacing Green Lane to Parsons Lane
  • 22 April to 27 April – resurfacing Lower Breach Farm to Manston Gate

This is not an exhaustive list of all repairs. Dorset Highways’ annual road maintenance programme, includes patching, micro-surfacing, surface dressing, in-situ recycling, road preservation and resurfacing treatments.

All planned road works can be found online.

Using a variety of surface treatments ensures that more of Dorset Council’s roads get repaired with the budget available, compared to using resurfacing alone.

Please use our online form to report highway-related issues/damage. This goes directly to the local community highways officer for assessment.

  1. Highfield Road. BH22 ONA is in a dreadful state of repair. Please consider future relay.

  2. When is it the turn of Bournemouth for the terrible and dangerous state of many roads to be repaired ?

  3. Please, please PLEASE will you resurface the <100m stretch of Hazel Lane, near Puncknowle, above the dairy? – 50°42'01.7"N 2°3 9'52.2"W
    50.700472, -2.664500
    Hazel Ln, Dorchester DT2 9BP
    P82P+55Q Dorchester.

This section has been in this dreadful, suspension-busting state for years and was only (unsuccessfully) patched when part of neighbouring Chilcombe Lane was resurfaced.

The large, wheel-busting pot holes in Chilcombe Lane near the turning to Sturthill Farm would be an extremely welcome repair too please? – DT6 4PL.

    1. Hi Ross, I can see that we’re aware of the poor condition of Hazel Lane and are in the process of designing a repair – unfortunately I don’t have a timescale on this for you.
The best way to report pothole damage is by completing our online form – this will then be passed on to our community highways team to inspect and recommend for appropriate repair: https://www.dorsetcouncil.gov.uk/roads-highways-maintenance/report-a-problem-on-the-road-or-pavement

  4. Will the B3091 be closed between Coles Lane & Bleax Close (SP7 0AU) when work is being done in April 2022

    1. Hi Janette, there’ll be no through access along the B3091 due to the bridge works, but the resurfacing work is being carried out in sections, with the road closed in that area 9am to 4pm:
1 April to 13 April – resurfacing between Gupples Lane and Green Lane
14 April to 21 April – resurfacing Green Lane to Parsons Lane
22 April to 27 April – resurfacing Lower Breach Farm to Manston Gate
Access will be maintained for residents in the work area but it may involve a short wait while machinery is moved and the area made safe to pass through.

  5. Could you give me an update please on the proposed works in Pringles Drive and Pringles Close. What is now proposed, and has the timescale/dates changed?

    1. Hi Graham, I’ve just had notification that there are now new dates for this work – Pringles Drive and Pringles Close will be resurfaced on 6 & 7 April.

  6. You have stated that Lynmoor Road, Weymouth, DT4 7TW is in line for repair as the road is in a shocking state. Do you have an update as to when repairs will happen?

  7. Please could you tell me if there will still be pedestrian access across the Whitemill Bridge for the scheduled work from 28th March to 22nd April?

    1. Hi Ms Smith, pedestrians will still be able to use this route.

  8. What route can be used during the day(13.4.2022) to get from SP7 0AU to Sturminster Newton Medical Centre on Market Hill whilst the the B3091 road is being repaired. I am unsure of local roads so am completely lost whilst the roads are being closed.

    1. Hi Janette, there is a signed diversion route in place for drivers to follow. Alternatively, Google maps is very good at providing route information. Please allow extra time for your journey – the diversion route will be longer than your usual route and local roads will most likely be busier than usual.

  9. Highfield road corfe Mullen no 3 empty bus route to Wimborne.
highway and pavement surfaces are full of pot holes with gravel showing though surfaces and damaged kerbstones with uneven surfaces, cracking, undulating, corigrations they are in such a bad state of repair due to frequent empty bus damage.
It is completely pointless reporting any issues to the council for our £2300 counciltax or your local councillors as no one is interested in doing any repairs, except for resurfacing dead end local side roads.
