Planning convergence and transformation April 2022

We are transferring the planning information for the former Dorset County Council into the new Dorset Council planning platform. This is the final sixth phase to move all former district, borough, and county planning systems into one.

This means that the planning website will not be available from 5pm Monday 25 April. Once the data is transferred, we will test all areas of planning to make sure there has been no omissions or corruptions. We hope to have the website back up by the end of Wednesday 27 April. We will be extending consultation deadlines that fall within the downtime, to allow people additional time to respond

The next part of this programme is transformation. We will be talking to agents, town and parish and Dorset Council councillors and other users to explain how they can be involved to design tools and functions that will help improve this service.

  1. I’d like to be kept informed about the chairman’s appeal to Mr Gove about housebuilding quotas. Anything happening?

Also, it’s time we started insisting that developers stop dishing out obsolescent homes with gas boilers and no solar panels. Why do we accept them?

    1. Hi Eleanor – our leader, Cllr Spencer Flower, will keep us updated on progress with Mr Gove. As far as insisting on certain regulations for developers this will need to be applied at a national level – again part of our discussion with Government about changes to the National Planning Policy Framwework for the future. 2. These disruptive periods need to happen to move forward, well done Dorset Council.

  3. The Wimborne Civic Society Planning Group review all applications in our area of interest – a large part of BH21. In the search facility I select current applications validated over a date range in BH21, copy the results into Excel where I have a Macro to filter those that are of interest and format these into a form for study by the planning group. I do the same with Decisions. The problem is that I have to copy the results from several pages whereas with BCP it is possible to increase the number of results per page.

It would be useful if the search facility for planning applications allowed all the results to be consolidated into a single page (or even downloadable to a file). It is important to preserve the hyperlinks.
