Road maintenance
Using a variety of surface treatments ensures that more of Dorset Council’s roads get repaired with the budget available, compared to using resurfacing alone.
Please use our online form to report highway-related issues/damage. This goes directly to the local community highways officer for assessment.
You can use our online map to view all planned roadworks across the Dorset Council area.
Why was St Marys road into Tesco Ferndown not resurfaced when St Marys Close was done. St Marys road is very bad, yet St Marys close was ok and did not need it !.?
When are you going to remove the loose chipping signs and cleanup the clippings in our Road ref. paddock close Stapehill.
Yes , that road leading from Church Road into Both The 2 Doctors surgeries at Penny’s hill and leading into Vtesco underground car park are in a terrible condition and an absolute disgrace !!
The surface has pot holes everywhere and for disabled people in cars who can feel every bump it’s just not fit for purpose, and the number of vehicles that use it surely should make it a priority.
You can afford to resurface parts of Victoria road for the bike race that didn’t take place so what about this small section of road ???
Come on Council pull your fingers out and get it done as a matter of urgency !!!
Thank you for the resurfacing work from Water Knapp Hazelbury Bryan along the road towards Sturminster Newton . It has made such a difference and is really appreciated.
Any chance of Cammel Road west parley getting repaired
Please
The first section of the road Bridle Way at Canford Bottom was scheduled for resurfacing a few weeks ago as per signs that were put up. It was cancelled, I presume re an accident that occurred with one of the gang vehicles a few days before. Is this road still to be done, as the hardcore is becoming to break up.
Something like 4 weeks ago Church Street, Yetminster was surface dressed. Now Wessex Water are digging a trench through the length of the street. Is this the most sensible use of resources noting that Wessex Water must have been planning this work some months ahead?
When I worked for an Electricity Board when it was Nationalised, other Utilities were informed of our proposed street works. This enabled them to dovetail any of their activities. It was known as The Public Utilities Street Works Act (PUSWA) and it was very effective. What has happened with the passing of time?

These things usually come in threes. First, after a long wait, the council repairs, then a utility company spots that the road is in a very good state again and declares it in need of digging up, does the work to everyone’s inconvenience and leaves the road surface in a worse state than it was, and then an internet provider deems the time right to entrench some fibre optic cables and gets its power tools out. Good luck!
isnt time that the road out of Alderholt going to Fordingbridge was sorted out
its in a awfull state just leaving Alderholt
I use this road every working day and agree that remedial works are long overdue.
What about Belle View Walk, West Parley, time to resurface !
They pay high enough rates !
Sept. 27. road closed at Burton Bradstock. What’s going on and how long for?.
Openreach are carrying out excavation work to clear blockages for 5 days, although we expect work to be finished 29 Sept – Please see https://www.dorsetcouncil.gov.uk/travel/travel-dorset/roadworks-road-closures
