Dorset Road Fix 2022 – November and December resurfacing sites

Dorset Highways maintenance gangs continue to repair road damage in the Dorset Council area.

To allow this work to take place safely, the area of the road being worked on will be closed. Daytime road closures are 9am to 4pm and night work is usually from 8pm to 6am.

We will do our best to keep you updated if our schedule of work changes.

Please note, this list includes the roads we are resurfacing. It doesn’t include third party work (such as Wessex Water repairs) or other planned roadworks. To find the latest roadworks and closures in your area, please visit our online map.

Road maintenance

Using a variety of surface treatments ensures that more of Dorset Council’s roads get repaired with the budget available, compared to using resurfacing alone.

Please use our online form to report highway-related issues/damage. This goes directly to the local community highways officer for assessment.

You can use our online map to view all planned roadworks across the Dorset Council area.

  1. I am following up on my comments earlier regarding the cancellation of Hornbeam Way, Wimborne resurfacing work which had been scheduled in the summer. I totally understand that this happened due to the unfortunate accident in Ferndown.
However, what I do not accept is that although our road has been rescheduled for next year, even this could be in doubt, as a ‘reassessment’ has to be carried out ?

    1. Hi, the reassessment is to ensure the originally planned treatment is still suitable. If it’s not we’ll need to do a different treatment or a full resurfacing.

  2. Thank you for your update but there is no mention of the A35 closure between Bridport and Raymond’s Hill between 31/10 and 11/11 between 8pm and 6am, except at the weekend. This is an extremely busy route and there is no easy alternative except narrow lanes or a long diversion. Many people will be affected!

    1. Hi Richard, the list we provided above only refers to roads Dorset Council is resurfacing. The works related to the closure of the A35 between Bridport and Raymond’s Hill are being undertaken by Highways England. They will manage their own publicity and signposting of diversions etc for any work they carry out. Best regards, Claire

      1. I think I may have already sent in a comment back on this but if not :-
People will look at this roadworks section to see what is happening with roadworks on Dorset roads not just from Dorset Council, but from Highways England or who ever else has access to complete roadworks, so a link to other sites likely to impact Dorset residents would be truly useful and appreciated

  3. Potholes need repairing in Mill Lane and also in the main road through Chetnole village. My attempt to report these on your website failed. Please make it easier.

  4. Potholes in Mill Lane and in the road through Chetnole to Yetminster need repairing.
I tried but failed to report these on DCC website.

  5. ‘Cranbourne’ should be spelt ‘Cranborne’ and it’s the B3081 rather than the B3091.

  6. Are there any plans to finish redwood drive and surrounding roads after work was stopped earlier in the year?

    1. Hi Nick, a letter has recently gone to residents to say this work, unfortunately, cannot be carried out during the winter months. We are planning to undertake the work in the spring/summer 2023. The carriageway has been inspected by engineers and is considered to be safe in its current condition.
We’re sorry for any inconvenience caused as a result of the delay. In the meantime, roads will continue to be inspected in line with our policy, and you can report any urgent issues by calling our dedicated call centre on 01305 221020 or by recording any defects online at: https://www.dorsetcouncil.gov.uk/roads-highways-maintenance/report-a-problem-on-the-road-or-pavement

  7. Blocked drains and flooding for over a week on Back Lane, Hazelbury Bryan, at the entrance to the North Dorset workshops.

  8. I would like to comment on the safety requirements around Bridport Harbour “West Bay”.
How and where can I do this.
