Dorset Road Fix – resurfacing August 2023

Our highways maintenance gangs are out across the council area continuing to repair road damage.

They do this by resurfacing and, to allow this work to take place safely, the area of the road being worked on will be closed. Signed diversions will be in place.

We will do our best to keep residents updated if our schedule of work changes. The roads will be open outside of the hours given. All the  works listed below will take place 9am to 4pm daily.

Laurel Close, Ashley Heath – 4 to 8 August

Hurst Road, Moreton – 7 to 9 August

Hurn Lane, St Ives – 10 to 14 August

French Mill Lane, Cann – 14 to 18 August

Throop Hollow to Yearlings Drove – 18 to 22 August

Westbridge Park, Sherborne – 22 to 24 August

Meadow Close, Cattistock – 23 to 25 August

Harbour Road, Sherborne – 24 to 25 August

Near railway bridge, Stockwood Road, Chetnole – 21 August to 1 September

This is not an exhaustive list of all repairs. See our online map to view all planned roadworks across the Dorset Council area, including works undertaken by water, gas and telecoms companies, National Highways and other organisations.

  1. When will resurfacing work begin on Bridle Way Colehill.
Top surface completely gone on most of the road

    1. No work has been done on the bridleway at Bramble Drove Broadmayne despite constant complaints over the years and the top surface is now dangerous for use by pedestrians, cyclists , horses or eve motor cars. The Council clearly run the risk for future loss and damage for failure to carry out their legal obligations.

  2. Many thanks for the drainage improvements at the bottom of Cox Hill, Stalbridge/Marnhull. Should allow traffic access all year.

  3. I live in Clayford Ave Ferndown. Our road was first tarmacked and adopted some 50 years ago. Nothing has ever been done again. The road is used extensively for people accessing the housing estates n the north. The roads and pavements are in an appalling state having been dug up many times. I notice other lesser used roads in the area, some constructed after ours, have been beautifully resurfaced. Namely Westwood Ave and Albert Road. Are we scheduled for attention?

  4. When is Hornbeam Way Wimborne scheduled for resurfacing please?
This work was cancelled in July 2022 after an incident in Ferndown, this road surface is in a bad state and in need of attention. This work was promised to be rescheduled during 2023.

    1. Hello David, Hornbeam Way is scheduled for late September. We will be issuing a list of all the sites and dates before September. Best regards, Claire

  5. I live on Braeside Road, St Leonards and it’s now a complete patchwork of former roadworks, wear and tear with a very rough surface to drive on. The road is a busy one and is often used as a ‘rat run’ to/from the A31. I posted a comment earlier this year and had no reply or feedback.
I notice that Laurel Close has this month had excellent re-surfacing. It’s a cul de sac with very little traffic. I’m there were good reasons for the work I can’t see why Braeside Road is being neglected. Is there a date rescheduled for resurfacing?
