The forest is completed, complete with aquarium masquerading as a forest pond. The ocean room is coming on swimmingly so on to the unicorn room.
To make my life more exciting I decided to wallpaper the ceiling as painting a sky on the ceiling seemed a little beyond me. I can tell you, categorically, that wallpapering a ceiling will drive you insane. Gravity works against you and little people will want something urgently as you pray for the tiniest bit to stay adhered to the ceiling rather than your hair.
Thanks to my lovely former borrowed daughter (who’d come to visit) I managed it. She helped me hold up the offending paper and keep me sane.
On a more serious note, my eldest foster son is making the transition home after two years with us. My heart is in my boots and I’m trying hard to imagine life without him. On a positive note, I’m so proud of his parents for getting their life back on track and for making every single contact and school play, despite living two hours from us.
We have about six weeks left with our lovely boy. Yes he’s a towering 14 year old and he still thinks vegetables are evil but from the moment he burst into our house and turned several of my towels black with hair dye, he wound his way round all our hearts.
I’ve just told the littlest borrowers about C going back home. This was so hard because inevitably there were the questions “Does this mean we are going home?” “Do you not want C anymore?” “Are you going to replace him?”
I hope we’ve answered these questions in the best way but who knows how much has ‘gone in.’ We’ve shown the boys how we will keep in contact with C and if they catch us crying then we will explain why.
So back to the building work, this month we also had a porch built and the plumbers have started renovating the bathrooms. My plumber happens to be my ex-husband who I used to foster with 10 years ago. The littlies are thoroughly enjoying his presence and have watched, in fascination, the transformations.
School however is an issue as one child has informed his teachers that Mandy has ‘six men to help her with the housework everyday and one she had children with’ good job parents evening has happened already.
It’s an awesome piece of writing in support of all the online people;
they will get benefit from it I am sure.
