Dorset Council still intends to redevelop North Quay

Last Thursday (5 September), our Western and Southern Area Planning Committee voted against the proposed demolition of the old council office building at North Quay in Weymouth.

In response to the decision, Leader of Dorset Council, Cllr Spencer Flower, said “The Western & Southern Planning Committee’s decision yesterday (5 September) related only to the proposed demolition of the building, not the future of the site, and the Council’s intention to redevelop the site remains unchanged.  We will now be considering future options.

The decision of the Planning Committee demonstrates the transparency and fairness of the Council’s planning process. Every application is considered against specific material considerations. Council officers make recommendations but, ultimately, key decisions lie with the democratically-elected members of the Committee.”
