Dorset Council has decided to extend the consultation period for their Climate and Ecological Emergency strategy.
Launched at the end of October, the consultation was originally set to run until mid-December. However, with the current four-week lockdown preventing many people from receiving paper copies of this important survey or accessing the online version via a local library, Councillors have chosen to extend the amount of time people have to complete the questionnaire both on and offline.
The consultation will now run until the end of Wednesday 20 January, extending the period to respond to a full 12 weeks.
Cllr Ray Bryan, Dorset Council’s Portfolio Holder for Highways, Travel and Environment, said:
“We want as many people to respond to our Climate and Ecological Emergency Strategy consultation as possible and this means providing ample opportunity for all interested residents to have their say.
Our original plan was to provide paper copies and online access via our libraries across the county, but the lockdown has prevented this from happening for a few weeks. As a result, it’s only fair and logical that we extend the consultation period accordingly.
I strongly encourage everyone to head over to our website, have a read of the strategy and complete the survey. Those who need offline copies of the documents can request these by calling 01305 221000 or waiting until their local library reopens once again.”
Dorset Council elected members and Town and Parish councils have also been provided with the offline version of the survey.
Great news, thank you, Dorset Council, for listening to feedback about the lack of offline access due to the length of the consultation period and the lockdown.
Hello.
The survey, however necessary, is extremely long which would put most people off, especially having to read all the strategies within.
Thank you.
I started to complete the survey on line, but lost the questionnaire when switching to another section. I shall have to start again as I did not click on SAVE after completing each section….I am particularly concerned that Municipal Waste to Energy (MWE )does not get a mention in DC ‘s strategy – it should be a No- Brainer!
