Leigh Road / Wimborne Road West will be closed overnight for 5 nights between 18 October until 22 October 2021. These closures will take place from 8pm in the evening to 6am the following morning.
The road will be closed between the western junction of Stapehill Crescent to the junction of Lonsdale Road with Wimborne Road West. The southern junction of Hayes Lane with Wimborne Road West will also be closed.
During the night-time closures a diversion will be operating along Wimborne Road West, Canford Bottom, Middlehill Road, Wimborne Road and Rowland’s Hill (see map).
The closures are part of the ongoing Transforming Cities Fund improvement works, currently underway on Leigh Road and Wimborne Road West. They are necessary to carry out road resurfacing and to allow the installation of new road and cycleway markings.
Residents who live in the affected area have been contacted directly by Dorset Council. Any residents who need special consideration should contact the dedicated TCF Dorset Direct hotline on 01305 221025 before the closures begin.
These cycle dominant areas are a complete waste of time and have held up traffic, causing untold CO2 emissions which will have more lasting effect than any benefits to the cyclists. Shame on you,
This new cycle lane has also caused tremendous damage to the environment by removing large expanses of verge and caused tremendous flooding issues for local residents because of the vast expanses of poorly drained tarmac. Dorset council you can expect a lot of trouble coming in your direction when this scheme is shown to be a major contributor to that flooding.
Couldn’t put it better. The cycle route is a complete waste of money. It’s too wide & will be hardly used since it stops before it reached Wimborne.
