A31 National Highways project
The A31 eastbound on-slip at B3081 Verwood Road will be closed from 8pm on Friday 29 October for ten weeks.
Drivers will be signed to travel west on the A31 & use the Ashley Heath Roundabout to access the eastbound carriageway.
This will provide National Highways with a safe working space while preparation work continues for the A31 road widening and bridge replacement, which will start in earnest in the New Year.

All planned road works can be found online.
Please use our online form to report road-related issues/damage. This goes directly to the local community highways officer for assessment.
Still no news of the road into Blandford by the tyre co.at Blandford St. Mary being re repaired ? It was left in a dreadful state in September last year after supposedly having potholes repaired. Traffic is travelling in the centre of the road to try and avoid the lumps in the road, and after rain, pedestrians get drenched when vehicles pass through the water lying at the roadside. PLEASE will someone sort this problem.
So encouraging to see the road surface repairs, they are needed.
One point I would like to raise. No doubt the re-surfacing comprise of ” chip and tar”, those living in close proximity to these roads can expect considerable increase in road surface noise. Check with national road transport reports and the ” chip and tar” rates highest with regards to road noise when compared with other surfaces. Why is this surface used? – its cheap and relatively quick. If you ever travel on the continent you will notice the difference.
West moors resident, HOW much longer are the road closure signs going on for at West Moors, wouldn’t be so bad if you ever saw men working !!! Causing chaos all around West moors .
I work in three legged cross and live in ferndown the diversion at these roadworks takes you to the closed a31. My 9 minute journey has turned into a 45 minute journey every night as I now have to go all the way out to Hurn airport to get back to ferndown. Someone should have planned this better!!!!
Very concerned that some of the new road surfaces are amplifying road noise to really intolerable levels in some areas, on the A354 going towards North Brook roundabout for example, really horrible for householders on that road, I hope that the Highways agency will address this issue, and put it right, and won’t cause misery in other areas where people live. Roads need repairing yes, but this should not cause negative situations as a result.
