Dorset Road Fix 2022 – micro-surfacing from 20 June

Micro-surfacing works are getting underway to help preserve more of Dorset Council’s road network.

a Dorset road half surfaced and half not surfaced
Halfway through surface treatment – with machine yet to pass over second half of road

The low-cost treatment is laid over the top of the current surface – filling in shallow cracks and holes – and helps protect the underlying road structure from water damage as well as adding reinforcement to the existing asphalt.

Due to the large equipment and number of vehicles used to carry out the work, roads will be closed for the treatment to be carried out.

Road closures will be from 8am to 5pm with a gateman available to address any queries.

Please look for advance notice signs which will be put out before the start of work and, to help work go smoothly, please move your vehicle off the road.

Road surfaces will be swept the day after treatment, with white lines replaced between three and five days after the work.

Any drain covers that are too low following the surfacing will be raised within three weeks after the work.

This season, Dorset Council Highways’ contractor Kiely will be carrying out the work.

  1. Good morning,
I am a resident of Wimborne. Could I please ask you if there are any plans for Allenview Road to be resurfaced ? As well as being a speed track, the road is really not good as it was fully dug 4 years ago with , what I believed at the time, was the promise of resurfacing it fully.
Thank you for your comments in this matter. I think I am speaking on behalf of all the residents nearby !

      1. When are you going to update the website? Allenview road closure dates state closed 8-15th July. The sign on the road says 13-20th july but the work has been postponed according to Kiely brothers but the council website dates haven’t matched or been updated

        1. Hi Mrs Payne, following an accident, where a Kiely Bros. contractor was tragically killed, the programme of work has been postponed.
We’re in the process of helping to remove old date signage from sites and we will publicise a revised schedule when it is available.

  2. Why is the road from Burton Bradstock to Shipton Gorge not on the list of re-surfing? PARTS OF THIS ROAD ARE IN A TERRIBLE STATE.

  3. As usual East Dorset gets forgotten for most road fix repairs e.g Ferndown.

Grass verges are not cut leaving residents paying well over £2,300 council tax a year having to cut verges themselves. It is nothing to do with “wild flowers”just cut backs by DCC
Pavements and gullies are not cleaned either.
Why not a rebate on the council tax for neglecting so many council tax payers?

  4. A few longstanding potholes in Mill Lane, Chetnole DT9 6PB need filling in.
Any chance of a quick fix soon?
    Gordon Ratcliffe

  5. I am a resident of pinewood road , ferndown. At the moment highways maintenance is resurfacing larch way, close to pinewood. The construction traffic at the moment is using pinewood to access larch way. This is unacceptable the noise and weight of traffic on our unmade road is Unbelievable. Larch way can be accessed by ameysford road and robinwood.
I am also recovering from major spinal surgery and as you can appreciate need peace and quiet and not heavy construction work outside my window!
All the residents in this road work hard on its upkeep which is expensive and we all contribute. Lorries and the like ruin it quite quickly!

    1. Hi Angela, thanks for getting in touch, I’m sorry this has disturbed your recuperation. I’ve passed your comments on to the works manager.

  6. I live in Dalkeith Road, Corfe Mullen. Why has the Road resurfacing not been done? Will it be undertaken at a later date?

    1. Hi Robin, due to SGN works, surfacing on Dalkeith Road and other roads in the Corfe Mullen area have been postponed. We plan to add these sites to next year’s surface dressing programme, which will allow gas works trenches to settle.
