Road maintenance
Using a variety of surface treatments ensures that more of Dorset Council’s roads get repaired with the budget available, compared to using resurfacing alone.
Please use our online form to report highway-related issues/damage. This goes directly to the local community highways officer for assessment.
We were expecting Hornbeam Way Wimborne to be resurfaced from 15th to 22nd July, person from Kiely was dropping leaflets to this effect. Have we now been dropped from the plans? Will this still be carried out this year as the road is in a terrible state.
Hi David, we have suspended our micro-asphalt highway surfacing programme for this year as tragically an employee of our micro-asphalt contractor was sadly killed in an accident involving a lorry. This accident remains under investigation and I do not feel that it is appropriate to restart the programme while this is the case.
As this is a weather dependent activity, we do not anticipate that the remainder of the micro-asphalt programme will be completed within 2022.
We will continue to inspect these roads and make safe any defects requiring intervention.
Some of these roads may deteriorate over the winter and micro-asphalt may therefore not be the most suitable surfacing to use in 2023. We will need to reassess the roads and determine what the most appropriate surfacing option will be.
I note that stage 7 of the Tour of Britain cycle race will be going along West Road in West Lulworth. I cycle along this every day and it has many pot holes. For an individual cyclist you can avoid them but a crowded peleton of cyclists will probably get into trouble

Hi Dennis, the Tour of Britain Stage 7 route in Dorset has been inspected by both the race organiser and our highways team. Any necessary repairs have been scheduled for completion throughout August.
Would it be possible to show on a map this info
Hi John, all scheduled roadworks – including our surfacing works – can be viewed using our online map: https://www.dorsetcouncil.gov.uk/travel/travel-dorset/roadworks-road-closures
Hi, Ref Portman Road, Pimperne.
Recently the road was to be refinished with a big yellow sign advising us. We took action and rescheduled our road usage. Nothing happened.
Is there any info on this please
