Having fun this half term doesn’t have to be expensive. Here’s just some of the activities happening across Dorset.

Sherborne Library – Halloween Family Fun Time – 25 October 2pm – 3:30pm

Join us for crafts, painting, colouring, decorating and more in this special event! Come in fancy dress if you dare! Suitable for families with children aged 3+.

Crossways Library – Spooky Crafts – 27 October 2pm -4pm

Join us for an afternoon of free spooky crafts and colourings for children hosted by the Friends of Crossways Library.  Suitable for ages 4 and over – everyone is welcome!  All children must be accompanied by a parent or carer at all times, please.

Ferndown Library – Firework Fun! – 27 October 2:30pm – 3:30pm

Listen to a fun story and learn about firework safety. Dress up in a junior fire kit. Afterwards enjoy a tour of Ferndown Fire station. Booking available via the library: Find a library – Dorset Council

Swanage Library – Halloween Creations in Lego – 29 October 10:30am – 1:30pm

RSPB Arne – Wild Weekend – 29 October 10am – 1pm

We continue our wild weekends this October. We are looking at Hedgehogs.

Join us for a FREE* family friendly event on the café lawn at Arne. This #WildWeekend focuses on hedgehogs.

You will be able to build a cosy hedgehog home to encourage them to rest, hibernate and raise their hoglets in your garden. In the 1950s, there were an estimated 30 million hedgehogs in the UK. Recent estimates suggest there are less than a million left.

Come a find out about their hibernation and all things hedgehogs. What to feed them and how to make your garden great for them.

Durlston Country Park – Anglo-Saxon Sunday –30 October 11am – 4pm

Drop in and see ‘Seaxia’ – a local Anglo Saxon re-enactment group! Combat demonstrations, have a go archery, timber working and more.Weather dependent – call on the day in bad weather.

FREE but some activities may have a small fee.

This event takes place on 30 October 2022, 19 February 2023 and 9 April 2023.

West Bay Discovery Centre – Spider hat making – 23 October – 30 October

Come and join us in the Discovery Centre for a spooky spider themed Halloween half-term. All week join us on a spider hunt – they are hidden all over the centre. Then on Wednesday 24th become a spider yourself by crafting your own spider hats! Entry to the Discovery Centre and spider-hat making is free – with donations gratefully accepted.
