Road improvements are to take place in South Street, Bridport between Monday 6 and Thursday 9 February 2023.
To enable the replacement of the road surface, South Street will be closed between 9am and 4pm each day.
Residents and businesses have received letters to notify them of the work, and signs will be erected advising motorists of the diversion route. As parking will be unavailable in South Street between 9am and 4pm on these days, businesses are asked to arrange deliveries outside of the hours of the road closure. We are also advising residents to seek alternative parking during these times.
Residents’ permit holders will be able to park free of charge in the South Street or East Street car parks during the works.
The market will go ahead on the Wednesday, but stalls will be relocated to East and West Streets.
Old cast iron gullies that were causing surface flooding have already been replaced in readiness for the resurfacing work.
We thank everyone in advance for their patience during the work to improve South Street. Businesses will be very much open during the works to make Bridport an even better place to visit.
What’s happening with Route 6 which is now routed via South Street?
Hi Billy, we have notified First Wessex of the road closure and they will advise us and passengers shortly of any required changes. I will respond again here as soon as I have the information. Best wishes, Claire
Good morning my husband is unable to walk very far and we have an appointment in South St. Can we use the South St carpark?
Hi Marilyn, please can you ask for Terry when you get the road closure and he will make arrangements for you. Thanks, Claire
