Following consideration of the submissions received in the consultation undertaken in the Autumn last year, a report of draft recommendations was agreed by Full Council on 14 February.

You can view the initial submissions received from town and parish councils as well as other organisations and members of the public on the website.

The consultation will run until 17 April before the final recommendations will be presented to Full Council on 11 May.  If agreed, changes will take effect from 1 April 2024.

Community Governance Review is a legal process where the council consults with those living in the area, and other interested parties, on the most suitable ways of representing the people in the parishes identified in the review, and is required to take into account the size, population and boundaries of a local community or parish, and are reflective of the interests of the community in that area.

Cllr Spencer Flower, Leader of Dorset Council, said: “We have listened to all comments we received during the first consultation, and believe the changes proposed will serve all the people living in the area.

“As we are now entering the final stage of the consultation, we want to encourage local people, and other interested parties, to have their say on proposed changes.”
