Event Type

A study day organised in honour of the late Jo Draper by the South West Pottery Group of the Medieval Pottery Research Group (www.medievalpottery.org.uk)

Saturday 20th October 2018 from 10am (with registration from 9.30am) to 3.30pm in Committee Room 1 at County Hall, Colliton Park, Dorchester DT1 1XJ

This event is FREE to attend but prior booking is requested as numbers are limited, and to help with catering. Tea and coffee are provided and a donation of £2.50 requested to cover this.

Collections of pottery from sites including The Old Manor at Stratton near Dorchester, Corfe Castle, and Wareham will be displayed, and speakers include Dan Carter (Bournemouth University) on Verwood Pottery.

The detailed programme is in course of preparation, and more information will appear here in due course. There will be a break for lunch (NOT provided) from 12.30 to 1.30pm and breaks for tea/coffee morning and afternoon.

This is an in-depth event intended for specialists and those with a keen interest in medieval and post-medieval pottery.   If you have a general interest in archaeological finds you may find our Finding Dorset events more suitable.

Local historians or archaeologists (professional or amateur) with finds of pottery are welcome to bring them along for examination and comment – please let us know in advance, particularly if it is a large assemblage of pottery.

Parking. Participants may park free of charge in staff car parks at the back of County Hall – these are the areas through the raised barriers. Please observe the one-way system around the building. Please note that areas outside the barriers are pay and display car parks open to the general public and for which there is a charge.
