Join us to celebrate the 20th birthday of the Portable Antiquities Scheme in Somerset and Dorset at an event at County Hall in Dorchester (Committee Room1) organized by Dorset Council’s Historic Environment team.
Presentations will look at individual Portable Antiquities Scheme finds and types of finds from Dorset, and consider how PAS finds have changed our understanding of the county’s past.
We are putting the finishing touches to the programme. It includes talks on Roman and Iron Age coin hoards in Somerset and Dorset by Eleanor Ghey of the British Museum, and Early medieval metalwork in Somerset and Dorset by Rob Webley of the British Museum, and from Bournemouth University on excavation and analysis of PAS finds. .
