An introduction to flint objects and knapping techniques and an opportunity to try your hand at flint knapping.
Learn about prehistoric flint working with Ciorstaidh Hayward Trevarthen (Finds Liaison Officer, Portable Antiquities Scheme) and Mike Trevarthen (RMA Trevarthen Archaeological Services) who will be talking about flint tools and demonstrating flint working techniques at an event at County Hall in Dorchester (Committee Room 1) organized by Dorset Council’s Historic Environment team.
The event starts at 10.30am, with tea and coffee available from 10am. We expect to finish by 12.30am at the latest.

The event is free but numbers are limited to 15 and booking is requested. Over 18 year-olds only please.
Materials and safety equipment are provided but you are asked to bring a towel or similar to cover your knees when knapping. Participants are expected to follow safety instructions. You might get a little dusty, so wear suitable clothing – closed shoes, arms and legs covered.
Wheelchair access is possible and there is a hearing loop.
