Meet Digital Norma – just an ordinary gal who is helping to make a huge difference to people’s lives.
We now live in a world where nearly everything is moving online but in Dorset we still have nearly a third of residents who are digitally excluded in some way.
One factor in being digitally excluded is not having the skills needed to do things online.
To help make sure those people are not missing out, we are recruiting people like Norma to be embedded digital champions.
Norma just happens to work in a doctor’s surgery, but our embedded digital champion training is designed for anyone who has regular contact with residents.
The training is designed to help people who work across Dorset organisations to feel more confident helping their customers use the online services they provide.
Or, if you already feel confident, the training provides the soft skills needed to reassure residents to try things online for themselves.
And for some people on the course, they will pick up new digital skills that will help them in both a professional and personal capacity.

Helen Baker, Library Manager, said: “The training was well delivered with excellent presentation throughout. It was generally engaging and a good mix of interaction, presentation and guest speakers to keep it interesting.”

100% of people who have completed the training said it exceeded their expectations and another 93% said they now feel confident helping their customers.
