In December Dorset Council took delivery of an AV1 Avatar, we have leased him from the manufacturer No Isolation for a period of three months. During this time, we are planning to use him to promote the opportunity he offers for children who are physically unable to attend school to do so virtually via the AV1 Avatar. This video explains perfectly how he works.
We have been aware of AV1 for some time, but we’d not really been able to gain any interest by merely talking about him. Within a week of us having an AV1 on-site lots of enthusiasm has been generated, one of the biggest lessons we’ve learnt so far is that seeing is believing with AV1.
Our hope was to sign up a few schools to help us trial the devices. We’ve now signed up two schools and have just placed the order for their devices. It’s an exciting (and slightly scary) time, we have the potential to really make a difference for the children who will use the AV1 so we want to get it right.
All those involved in the trial are committed to working in a positive, collaborative way and will share our experiences and learning as we progress.
Wish us all luck and pop back over the summer to read an update on how things have progressed.
