We’re excited to say that 250 people have decided to be like Digital Norma and help people get online by becoming an Embedded Digital Champion. It’s so good to see our army of volunteers growing, and we’re so proud to have hit this milestone.
Have you met Norma yet? She’s a Dorset resident who works in her local GP surgery, and assists people with upping their digital skills. With so much of our lives being online, it’s important that everyone has the opportunity to be included. By joining our training, you’ll learn how to help the people you come into regular contact with become more confident about using online services.

Whilst Norma works in a doctor’s surgery, the training is for anyone who regularly comes into contact with Dorset residents. Perhaps you work in a library, a call centre, or even in a church, then this training is for you.
Many of us take for granted the skills we have to do online banking, ordering a repeat prescription, or accessing an audio book, but many people across Dorset don’t have those skills through no fault of their own.
By joining our training, you can helping people improve their digital skills, and make a real difference to their everyday lives.
Even if you are already confident in helping others, this training includes lots of other handy ‘soft skills’ too, particularly helpful when it comes to reassuring people to be brave and to try new things online. Not only that, you’ll get to feel a part of a much wider group of people working together to really make a difference to the lives of ‘digitally excluded’ people right across the county.

Tommy said: “My overall experience of training was very positive. I thought the training was very engaging, which is nice as it makes the experience a lot more enjoyable and helps the information stick.”
Camille said: “The training was a lot more insightful and interesting than I previously thought. I learnt some great tools to use and now have good knowledge of the best sites and apps to signpost those customers who need it.”
The course is free to join, and happens online, so you don’t even have to travel. We’re immensely proud to say that of the people who have already completed the course; 100% said that the training exceeded their expectations, and 93% of people said that they now feel more confident in assisting their customers.
