Customers will experience improvements including greater self-service, the ability to review monitor and comment on planning applications of interest, and easier tracking of applications.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559685&quot;:540,&quot;335559739&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u202f<\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Project 2 Reducing invalid planning applications received via Planning Portal<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559685&quot;:540,&quot;335559739&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">On average 50% of the planning applications submitted to Dorset Council are invalid on receipt, meaning that the decision-making process can\u2019t start straight away. \u202f This causes frustration and cost for planning applicants their agents and the council.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559685&quot;:540,&quot;335559739&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u202f<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">We are working with the National Planning Portal and our supplier (DEF) to reduce the number of invalid planning applications we receive via the National Planning Portal.\u00a0 We want to make it easier for applicants to find out if they need planning consent, exactly what information is needed to apply and improve the way the information is passed through the system to reduce re-entering of information and back-and-forth correspondence.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559685&quot;:540,&quot;335559739&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">This project will pilot new ways to submit the required information, for example by embedding an online biodiversity checklist, instead of the current paper form, improving the customer experience and council efficiency.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559685&quot;:540,&quot;335559738&quot;:120,&quot;335559739&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u202f<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The national funding for planning projects has given us the opportunity to accelerate Dorset\u2019s planning transformation work.
