They have yet to be chosen<\/li>\n<li>At Dorset Innovation Park, Winfrith<\/li>\n<li>On the Lulworth Estate<\/li>\n<li>Along the Dorset coast. The areas have yet to be chosen<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/news.dorsetforyou.gov.uk\/digital-first\/2019\/10\/26\/rural-dorset-seeks-funds-for-5g-testbeds\/\">Read more about our plans.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>How much is this costing?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The trials will cost Dorset taxpayers \u00a3150,000. The remainder of the \u00a36.675 million will be funded by Government and industry.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Is 5G dangerous?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>All trials in Dorset will stay within the approved safety guidelines.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/news.dorsetforyou.gov.uk\/2019\/07\/29\/health-concerns-surrounding-5g\/\">Read a statement from Public Health England.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Why 5G? I can\u2019t even get 3G or 4G<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Government is funding trials to see if 5G can be rolled out differently and help solve rural challenges. Rural Dorset has won a share of this funding.<\/p>\n<p>5G builds on previous generations of wireless connectivity, so trial areas will also get 4G.<\/p>\n<p>A separate proposed programme between mobile operators and the government will see the big four mobile companies sharing masts and resources to deliver a 4G signal across 95% of the UK landmass by 2025.<\/p>\n<p>This <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/news\/1-billion-deal-set-to-solve-poor-mobile-coverage\">\u201cShared Rural Network\u201d<\/a> should mean an end to the vast majority of not-spots (areas where there is no mobile signal) and virtually all partial not-spots (areas with a signal from one or more operators, but not all four).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What is 5G?
