That\u2019s the image you have in mind, right?<\/p>\n<p>Sure, rural Dorset is a historic and incredibly beautiful place to live, work and visit. But who says a stunning landscape has to mean rubbish connectivity?<\/p>\n<p>We are leading a <a href=\"https:\/\/news.dorsetcouncil.gov.uk\/2020\/02\/20\/dorsets-4-3-million-to-boost-rural-mobile-connectivity\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Government-backed \u00a36.7 million project<\/a> to help shape the future of 5G services in rural areas. We\u2019ll have a national profile and work alongside household names including Vodafone, Microsoft and the RNLI.<\/p>\n<p>We want a future where technology provides our young people with opportunities, helps the elderly live independent lives for longer and where businesses thrive because of &#8211; not in spite of &#8211; our location.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph\"><strong>What you will be doing<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph\">You will be working in a small project team alongside colleagues in the council\u2019s new Digital and Change Service, as well as a range of internal and external stakeholders, from councillors and local communities to central government departments and suppliers.<\/p>\n<p>Day-to-day work will include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"paragraph\">Conducting research and handling information<\/li>\n<li class=\"paragraph\">Maintaining project and programme data<\/li>\n<li class=\"paragraph\">Preparing, presenting and distributing reports and information for a range of audiences<\/li>\n<li class=\"paragraph\">Supporting <a href=\"https:\/\/news.dorsetcouncil.gov.uk\/2020\/02\/20\/dorsets-4-3-million-to-boost-rural-mobile-connectivity\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">project work packages<\/a><\/li>\n<li class=\"paragraph\">Organising and taking part in working groups, meetings and seminars<\/li>\n<li class=\"paragraph\">Talking\/negotiating with project partners and stakeholders<\/li>\n<li class=\"paragraph\">Championing the project<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"paragraph\"><strong>About you\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph\">You don&#8217;t need to know about 5G, but an interest in technology is definitely an advantage.<\/p>\n<p>The role would suit someone keen to build on experience working in a project\/programme environment with strong written and data management skills.<\/p>\n<p>If this sounds like you, take a look at our <a href=\"https:\/\/jobs.dorsetforyou.gov.uk\/digital-change-dorset-county-council-project-support-officer-5g-rural-dorset-fixed-term-until-31st-march-2022-dorchester\/32266.job\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">job advert<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dorset . . . cream teas, Enid Blyton, fossils and not one inch of motorway.
