{"id":1305,"date":"2019-12-18T09:24:14","date_gmt":"2019-12-18T09:24:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.dorsetforyou.gov.uk\/dorset-care-record\/?p=1305"},"modified":"2023-01-05T14:00:12","modified_gmt":"2023-01-05T14:00:12","slug":"how-to-access-your-medical-and-care-records","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.dorsetcouncil.gov.uk\/dorset-care-record\/2019\/12\/18\/how-to-access-your-medical-and-care-records\/","title":{"rendered":"How to access your medical and care records"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><u>GENERAL INFORMATON<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Individuals have the right to obtain a copy of their medical or care records, in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018 (GDPR).This is known as a Subject Access Request (SAR) or right of access.<\/p>\n<p>This request can be made in writing or verbally \u2013 most large organisations have a form that they prefer to be completed as it ensures they have all the correct information to complete the request.<\/p>\n<p>A request should be responded to within one month, although in exceptional circumstances this can be extended to two months.<\/p>\n<p>A fee cannot be charged for this service unless the request is excessive, manifestly unfounded or an individual repeats a request already completed.
