{"id":1481,"date":"2020-09-09T19:45:47","date_gmt":"2020-09-09T19:45:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.dorsetcouncil.gov.uk\/dorset-care-record\/?p=1481"},"modified":"2020-09-09T19:45:47","modified_gmt":"2020-09-09T19:45:47","slug":"faqs-for-community-pharmacies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.dorsetcouncil.gov.uk\/dorset-care-record\/2020\/09\/09\/faqs-for-community-pharmacies\/","title":{"rendered":"FAQs for Community Pharmacies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As part of our ongoing engagement with community pharmacies, we have developed a Frequently Asked Questions sheet which is available on the Dorset Local Pharmaceutical Committee (LPC) website.<\/p>\n<p>Community pharmacies are a key area of expansion for the Dorset Care Record this autumn and we have been working with the key industry body the \u00a0Pharmaceutical Services Negotiating Committee (PSNC) to increase the number of pharmacies using the DCR.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Below are a series of questions that were asked at two webinars held for community pharmacies earlier this summer:<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Times New Roman\">How do we register for the Dorset Care Record? (DCR) <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Times New Roman\">A: To facilitate your access to the DCR the DCR admin team require your pharmacy to firstly register with the Dorset Information Sharing Charter (DiSC). The DiSC provides a robust support framework for sharing information and working in partnership across public, private and voluntary sector organisations in Dorset. More information about the DiSC and how to sign up can be found at: About the Dorset Information Sharing Charter (DiSC) &#8211; Dorset Council. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Times New Roman\">After registering on the DiSC you will need to request access to DCR. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Times New Roman\">To set up your initial access to DCR, the following information needs to be sent to the dcrsystemadmin@dorsetcc.gov.uk: <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Times New Roman\">\uf0b7 * Name of Senior Pharmacist\/Lead Pharmacist on site <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Times New Roman\">\uf0b7 * Contact details of the Senior Pharmacist\/Lead Pharmacist on site <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Times New Roman\">\uf0b7 * IP address for the N3\/HSCN connection (you may need to speak to your IT provider) <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Times New Roman\">\uf0b7 * Sign up to the DiSC is required. The sign up form is available from the webpage About the Dorset Information Sharing Charter (DiSC) &#8211; Dorset Council. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Times New Roman\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Times New Roman\">Q How long does it take to complete the mandatory training required to access DCR? <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Times New Roman\">A: For the mandatory training on information sharing and security allow a maximum of 1 hour. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Times New Roman\">Q Is information available on the training package regarding information sharing? <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Times New Roman\">A: Yes, this is covered in the training. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Times New Roman\">Q Who will have access to the DCR within the pharmacy? <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Times New Roman\">A: Any registered professional within your pharmacy. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Times New Roman\">Q Will locums have access? <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Times New Roman\">A: Your regular locums can have access to the DCR, subject to completing relevant training. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Times New Roman\">Q Can a trainee technician have access with a personal login? <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Times New Roman\">A: Under LPC guidelines a trainee technician would not be able to access the DCR until they have completed their technician training. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Times New Roman\">Q A medicines reconciliation service may come in as part of the new pharmacy contract &#8211; do we envisage DCR being the vehicle to transfer this info? <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Times New Roman\">A: There will be information available about medicines discharge on DCR. It is unknown what system will be used to transfer information at this time. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Times New Roman\">Q Is the DCR read only? <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Times New Roman\">A: Yes, it is read only except for the discussion to view which is covered in the training. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Times New Roman\">Q Will this take over from the Summary Care Record (SCR) <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Times New Roman\">A: The Summary Care Record feeds into the Dorset Care Record alongside additional feeds from acute hospitals, Dorset HealthCare and social care for the local Dorset community. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Times New Roman\">Q If this doesn&#8217;t replace the SCR how will it affect PQS? <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Times New Roman\">A: It has no impact on PQS as accessing DCR is not linked to PQS. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Times New Roman\">Q Will pharmacists be able to see everything on a person\u2019s DCR? <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Times New Roman\">A: As the DCR matures, registered professionals will be able to see more information on an individual\u2019s record. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Times New Roman\">Q Are blood results included? <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Times New Roman\">A: Yes they are, but only from Dorset County Hospital at the moment. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Times New Roman\">Q Who would we need to speak to if a new allergy is discovered? <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Times New Roman\">A: If you identify a new allergy this would need to be communicated to the patient\u2019s GP so they could add this to their records, this will then feed in to the DCR. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\">Q What &#8216;letters&#8217; are shown on DCR? Is this just discharge or other hospital letters<\/span><\/p>\n<p>A: There will be clinical letters, eDischarge Summaries and Emergency Department Discharge Summaries on the DCR.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Times New Roman\">Q Would we need a privacy officer like SCR? <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Times New Roman\">A: No. You do not need a separate privacy officer, this could be the same person who oversees SCR. A pharmacy must have appropriate governance in place to ensure appropriate access to the DCR. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Times New Roman\">Q Will there be a single sign to the Hampshire Care and Health Information Exchange (CHIE), which covers health and social care organisations in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight? <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Times New Roman\">A: It is expected that all DCR users will be able to see patient information from CHIE within the coming year. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As part of our ongoing engagement with community pharmacies, we have developed a Frequently Asked Questions sheet which is available on the Dorset Local Pharmaceutical Committee (LPC) website.
