At Dorset History Centre, we were recently donated a collection of photographs taken by a local amateur photographer, Gordon Slade.
Gordon Slade recorded images of Dorchester and Dorset between the 1960s and 2000s. He photographed many images of Dorchester, Poundbury, and surrounding areas of Dorset as it changed and developed over the years.
This included images of shops in Dorchester town centre during refurbishment or demolition, showing how the High Street has changed throughout time. He often presented his work at The Dorchester Camera Club.
Below are some photographs of Dorset taken by Gordon Slade between 1980s-1990s. Copyright of all of the below images belongs to Simon Slade and Caroline Young.

These photographs have recently been catalogued and are listed in our catalogue here: GORDON SLADE COLLECTION: PHOTOGRAPHS OF DORCHESTER.
