We also offer support for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dorsetforyou.gov.uk\/libraries-history-culture\/dorset-history-centre\/get-involved\/community-projects.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">community projects.<\/a><\/p>\n<h1>Previous Projects<\/h1>\n<h2><a href=\"https:\/\/mailchi.mp\/dorsetcouncil\/celebrating-dame-elisabeth-frink?e=797c0b83d3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Elisabeth Frink Collection<\/a><\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-1057\" src=\"https:\/\/news.dorsetforyou.gov.uk\/dorset-history-centre-blog\/files\/2019\/10\/Reduced-size-017a-Frink-In-Memoriam-I-II-300x213.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"213\" srcset=\"https:\/\/news.dorsetcouncil.gov.uk\/dorset-history-centre-blog\/files\/2019\/10\/Reduced-size-017a-Frink-In-Memoriam-I-II-300x213.jpg 300w, https:\/\/news.dorsetcouncil.gov.uk\/dorset-history-centre-blog\/files\/2019\/10\/Reduced-size-017a-Frink-In-Memoriam-I-II-768x546.jpg 768w, https:\/\/news.dorsetcouncil.gov.uk\/dorset-history-centre-blog\/files\/2019\/10\/Reduced-size-017a-Frink-In-Memoriam-I-II.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>Thanks to an award from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.henry-moore.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Henry Moore Foundation<\/a>, as well as generous donations through the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dorsetarchivestrust.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dorset Archives Trust<\/a>, an archivist, David Johnston-Smith, was employed to catalogue and repackage the collection so that it will be available as a useful research tool for everyone.<\/p>\n<p>The collection includes a wide range of photographic material \u2013 portraits of Frink, pictures of her at work in her studios, as well as family photos which encompass the whole of her life \u2013 from baby photos, to images taken only weeks before she died.\u00a0 In addition, there is some original artwork &#8211; mostly juvenilia, a selection of small sculptural works, and a large quantity of paperwork including correspondence relating to the running of her business, and the sale, exhibition and marketing of her work.\u00a0 There is also a sizeable collection of printed material, which includes books, press articles, exhibition catalogues and reviews.<\/p>\n<h2><a href=\"https:\/\/news.dorsetforyou.gov.uk\/dorset-history-centre-blog\/2019\/07\/08\/herrison-hospital-project-update\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Herrison Hospital<\/a><\/h2>\n<figure id=\"attachment_933\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-933\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-933\" src=\"https:\/\/news.dorsetforyou.gov.uk\/dorset-history-centre-blog\/files\/2019\/06\/NG-HH-CMR-4-14A-11-p.175.07-resized-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/news.dorsetcouncil.gov.uk\/dorset-history-centre-blog\/files\/2019\/06\/NG-HH-CMR-4-14A-11-p.175.07-resized-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/news.dorsetcouncil.gov.uk\/dorset-history-centre-blog\/files\/2019\/06\/NG-HH-CMR-4-14A-11-p.175.07-resized-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/news.dorsetcouncil.gov.uk\/dorset-history-centre-blog\/files\/2019\/06\/NG-HH-CMR-4-14A-11-p.175.07-resized-1024x683.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-933\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">NG-HH\/CMR\/4\/14A\/11<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Funding was received from the Wellcome Trust to hire an archivist, Sophie Smith, to fully catalogue and repackage the records in order to ensure that research into records will be easier to understand. This money will also be used to conserve part of the collection to ensure their long-term usage along with engaging with academic partners in using the records for research\/workshops.<\/p>\n<p>In 1832 country home Forston House was converted into the Dorset County Asylum, and over the next 150 years more buildings were adapted and added, including a new building in 1863 and Herrison House in 1901. The hospital was closed completely in 1992. The Herrison Hospital records cover everything from administrate records and photographs to Rounders score books, this collection consists of approximately 300 boxes of archival material. Hospital patient records are subject to certain restrictions under the Data Protection Act, and access to records containing information less than 100 years old are restricted. The archive contains written records of the town&#8217;s history ranging from its founding charter in 1246 to the current unitary authority&#8230;<\/p>\n<h2><a
