December 23rd<\/sup> 1935.<\/u><\/em><\/p>\n

All the Christmas parcels were in the post, so what was there to stop us from making merry in the really old fashioned way in England \u2013 at the expense of some one else’s labour!<\/em><\/p>\n

Nice to think we could get up Christmas morning in leisurely mood, pry into \u201cstockings\u201d and eat a real Christmas Dinner\u2026 cooked by strange hands and not think about the washing up. \u2013 or what to do with the rest of the Turkey!<\/em><\/p>\n

Still there was Rushden and presents for five cats and various humans!<\/em><\/p>\n

To Rushden we journeyed heavily laden with crackling parcels and with cheerful hearts.<\/em><\/p>\n

The parcels delivered \u2013 the cats having duly received Christmas kisses and extra rations of cod, we prepared for a journey south \u2013 destination unknown \u2013 But there must be, we were quite certain \u2013 a shining blazing hearth \u2013 holly and mistletoe, Turkey and plum pudding, and just us in a Dickens Inn. \u2013 We dismissed, – we would do without the coach and four steaming horses and a rubicund coachman!<\/em><\/p>\n

No that was asking too much! . . . . , – we might just dream that bit of it, \u2026 after the port! – – –<\/em><\/p>\n

Halfway up to London we ran into Fog. \u2013 the thickest densest Fog that can only be found in England. \u2013 We were nearly three hours on the way — !<\/em><\/p>\n

Now this fact raised a problem and further enquiries about the road south disclosed the information we dreaded \u2013 More Fog \u2013 Cars left by the road, in ditches —–<\/em><\/p>\n

\u2018I\u2019m staying in Town\u2019 said Jumbo \u2013 \u2018Anyway for to-night!\u2019<\/em><\/p>\n

Now Logan Studios was enveloped in dustsheets — we hadn\u2019t the heart to go back.<\/em><\/p>\n

The ever resourceful Jumbo came to the rescue once more —<\/em><\/p>\n

\u2018I\u2019m going to Jules\u2019 said he. \u2013 To Jules we went.<\/em><\/p>\n

We had a large comfortable room, – a fire \u2013 hot baths \u2013 dinner\u00a0 — and went to bed<\/em><\/p>\n

And this is the Prologue!<\/u><\/em><\/p>\n
