Instead, records are grouped according to how they were created, and by whom. We regularly apply for external funding to allow us to make previously underused collections much more accessible to researchers. Recent grants have been used to catalogue the <a href=\"https:\/\/news.dorsetforyou.gov.uk\/dorset-history-centre-blog\/archive-projects\/unlocking-the-bankes-archive\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bankes Archive<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/news.dorsetforyou.gov.uk\/dorset-history-centre-blog\/archive-projects\/borough-of-poole-council-collections\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Poole Borough Archive<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/news.dorsetforyou.gov.uk\/dorset-history-centre-blog\/archive-projects\/the-cooper-dean-collection\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cooper Dean collection<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Fortunately, we have moved on from the days of hand-written indexes \u2013 free-text searching speeds up research enormously! Just remember to be creative when searching the catalogue and use multiple words to find items of interest.
