Hello,<\/p>\n

As the first month of 2025 concludes, we felt it was a good time to share with you our retrospective look at 2024 and the work delivered by the Archives and Records Service.\u00a0 What is very clear to us is that despite the ubiquity of digital material and services through which to view it, there is still a huge amount of hard copy (paper and parchment) that remains to be collected, catalogued and made accessible.\u00a0 The project to catalogue Thomas Hardy\u2019s archive reached its mid-point in December and funding was secured for further work to catalogue collections held by the service.\u00a0 It was particularly satisfying to see Dorset History Centre achieve successful re-accreditation via The National Archives.<\/p>\n

Busy years across all areas of the service including the Historic Environment Record and the Portable Antiquities Scheme.\u00a0 As ever, the service has benefitted hugely from its loyal volunteers and the work of the Dorset Archives Trust and we are grateful to all involved.<\/p>\n
