Lev.19:12<\/span><\/span><\/em><span class=\"TextRun SCXW158169392 BCX8\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW158169392 BCX8\">\u201d<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW158169392 BCX8\">,<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW158169392 BCX8\"> however one <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW158169392 BCX8\">appears to be<\/span> <span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW158169392 BCX8\">the motto of the Order of the Garter: \u201c<\/span><\/span><em><span class=\"TextRun SCXW158169392 BCX8\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SpellingErrorV2Themed SCXW158169392 BCX8\">Honny<\/span> <span class=\"NormalTextRun SpellingErrorV2Themed SCXW158169392 BCX8\">soit<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW158169392 BCX8\"> qui mal y <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SpellingErrorV2Themed SCXW158169392 BCX8\">pense<\/span><\/span><\/em><span class=\"TextRun SCXW158169392 BCX8\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW158169392 BCX8\">\u201d,<\/span> <span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW158169392 BCX8\">which translates to \u201c<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW158169392 BCX8\">shamed be (the person) who thinks evil of it<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW158169392 BCX8\">\u201d.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"TextRun SCXW158169392 BCX8\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW158169392 BCX8\">Another<\/span> <span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW158169392 BCX8\">quote <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW158169392 BCX8\">is particularly intriguing: <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW158169392 BCX8\">\u201c<\/span><\/span><em><span class=\"TextRun SCXW158169392 BCX8\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW158169392 BCX8\">Was he buried in woollen?<\/span><\/span><\/em><span class=\"TextRun SCXW158169392 BCX8\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW158169392 BCX8\">\u201d<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW158169392 BCX8\">.<\/span> <span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW158169392 BCX8\">The Burying in Woollen Acts was brought in in <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW158169392 BCX8\">1667 and was technically in force until 1814, thought it had <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW158169392 BCX8\">generally fallen<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW158169392 BCX8\"> out of favour by <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW158169392 BCX8\">1770. It features a charming sketch of the damp conditions inside St Mary\u2019s Church, and records donations made or promised by members of the congregation to help restore the roof. These symbols <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW8830162 BCX8\">seem to identify<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW8830162 BCX8\"> people who died at sea and were brought into Poole onboard arriving ships. It was taken from a drawing by the Reverend G Fort Cooper, Curate of <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SpellingErrorV2Themed SCXW76625304 BCX8\">Yetminste<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SpellingErrorV2Themed SCXW76625304 BCX8\">r<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW76625304 BCX8\"> for little over a decade<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW76625304 BCX8\">. <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW76625304 BCX8\">The band are performing west gallery music, or Gregorian psalmody, which was developed <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW76625304 BCX8\">by<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW76625304 BCX8\"> rural communities <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW76625304 BCX8\">who<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW76625304 BCX8\"> found congregational singing <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW76625304 BCX8\">wasn\u2019t<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW76625304 BCX8\"> quite hitting the mark<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW76625304 BCX8\"> anymore<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW76625304 BCX8\">. In the rural Dorset village of <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SpellingErrorV2Themed SCXW260079324 BCX8\">Pimperne<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW260079324 BCX8\">, you <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW260079324 BCX8\">wouldn\u2019t<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW260079324 BCX8\"> expect to find doodles of exotic sights like these, and yet here they are! <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW260079324 BCX8\">Perhaps someone<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW260079324 BCX8\"> in the parish had recently returned from a thrilling African holiday?
