Get Ready for the Apprenticeship Levy

a-levy

Today we held the first of our free Apprenticeship Levy seminars. These breakfast seminars provide businesses with valuable information on key changes to apprenticeships that are coming into effect this year.

From April 2017, the government is introducing a levy on UK businesses to help fund apprenticeships. In addition to the way apprenticeships are funded, there are also changes to how the qualification is awarded. This means that, regardless of whether your organisation will have to pay the levy, these changes to apprenticeships will affect all business who hire apprentices.

With presentations from some of the region’s biggest training providers, the four seminars will give information to businesses who currently hire apprentices or are considering hiring them in the future. Speakers will include representatives from Bournemouth and Poole College, Brockenhurst College, Paragon Training, and Skills & Learning.

As well as providing information on the impending Levy, the speakers will also share details on the benefits of apprenticeships. For example, did you know that:

  1. 80% of companies who invest in apprentices have reported a significant increase in employee retention
  2. 90% of apprentices stay in employment once the apprenticeship ends
  3. Over 130,000 businesses across the UK offer Apprenticeship places because they recognise their effectiveness at improving business performance & ensuring a committed workforce
  4. Statistics show that 77% of employers believe Apprenticeships make them more competitive
  5. 92% of employers who employ apprentices believe that Apprenticeships lead to a more motivated and satisfied workforce
