Heavy machine gun & rifle fire at 2 a.m. lasting for one hour. 2 casualties. Little sniping in morning.
23rd October: Trenches – HOUPLINES
A & B trenches shelled with heavies about noon. Capt. Bently Mortally wounded, & Capt. Bannerman wounded and 5 men. Battalion relieved R[oyal] Fusiliers at night & took up very long line. Difficult position with points enfiladed.
22nd October: Trenches – HOUPLINES
Heavy firing going on all round. No incident occurred with Battalion.
