18th February: TRENCHES – ST YVES

Seven “White Hopes” dropped on St Yves during the day. Twelve “Little Willie’s” about the BOREEN. Snipers active. 2 killed 1 wounded. 2nd Lieut Hunt joined the Battalion.

13th February: TRENCHES -ST YVES

36 Whizz Bangs burst in vicinity of BOREEN. Little sniping. Wet all day. Relieved at night by 2nd R DUB FUS [Royal Dublin Fusiliers] and marched to PT 63.

Snipers active opposite Lieut Harrison’s trench. Germans fired a number of grenades about “A” Coy’s trenches. No casualties.

Lieut General Wilson presented Corpl Barnes “A” Coy with DCM ribbon. Relieved 2nd R DUB FUS [Royal Dublin Fusiliers] in trenches in evening. Quiet relief.
