Fine bright day. Aircraft active BOREEN shelled a little. Snipers active. 1 killed. Relieved by 2^nd R DUB FUS [Royal Dublin Fusiliers] at night & marched to LA CRECHE.

Artillery duels during the day. Aircraft active on both sides. At 4.15 pm BOREEN shelled heavily with Whizz Bangs – 1 killed (Cpl Smith “A” Coy) 3 wounded- Poste, Kelly, Henderson.

Quiet day. Our guns experimented with ‘Star Shells’. No casualties. Lieut Simpson died in Hospital.

Occasional shelling of village & vicinity of BOREEN, otherwise quiet. 1 wounded.

Fine quiet day. “C” Coy in Reserve trench. Battalion relieved 2^nd R.Dublin Fus in trenches at ST YVES. 1 Coy 7^th Argyle & Sutherland Highlanders attached for instruction for 4 days. Cap. C.T.Tomes rejoined.
