Orders to hold ourselves in readiness to move received 11a.m. Regiment & 2nd R. Dublin Fusiliers marched off at 4.15pm to go up in support of 84th Brigade & proceeded via Bridge 1a & by brook to POTIJZE CHATEAU. Got into attack formation behind wood and debauched through the G.H.Q.[General Head Quarters] wire at 7.30 pm and advanced to Farm C29c where situation was reviewed.
Orders received from G.O.C. [General Officer Commanding] to attack at all costs & the line advanced, A & B Coys [companies] in front at 1.15 am. At 1.40 am. orders received attack cancelled. Regiment fell back and occupied line at Farm C 29 c, the Switch. Major J.C.Lancaster, Missing. Lieut.R.A.T.Miller, wounded. Draft of Capt.G.H.U.Miller & 189 men arrived.
