Quiet night & day. German snipers active. Much Transport heard in vicinity of SERRE. One man [‘killed’ omitted in error?] and 1 wounded by snipers. Fine. Getting colder at night.

19th Sept.– TRENCHES
Quiet night & day, more German snipers than usual, very little shelling on both sides. Fine day. 1 man wounded.
18th Sept.- TRENCHES
Fine. Quiet night & day.
17th Sept.- TRENCHES-SUCRERIE- MAILLY MAILLET
Very quiet day except for a few trench mortars about 10 am. 2nd Lieut Cooper died of wounds.
16th Sept.- VARENNES
Relieved 1st Kings Own in trenches at 8.30 pm. Quiet relief & night. 2nd Lieut S.G.Cooper seriously wounded in head by a trench mortar bomb. Heavy gunfire North of us all night.
15th Sept.
Battalion 3went for Route march at 2 pm. & was to be inspectecd by the Army Commander but he did not turn up, & Battalion was inspected by Brig. General Hull. Continue reading
